About the Family Law Attorney Position

Our attorneys work alongside a highly advanced, elite, and supportive legal team to empower our clients as we work to help good fathers and their children build or maintain a strong relationship into the future despite their current family turmoil.

As a member of our team, you are directly contributing to our clients’ successful outcomes and futures. You will be expected to manage a full active caseload with the support of our awesome administrative team and other experienced attorneys.

This position offers the flexibility to work from home and/or in our Hackensack office, with the understanding that travel throughout the middle to northern part of the State to Court if/when necessary, will be required.

Who We are Looking For

We are searching for a technically advanced, tenacious, perceptive mid to senior level Attorney to assist with managing a diverse portfolio of family law cases. We are looking for someone who wants to advance their professional career as much as their personal development, and financial goals, within our fast-growing law firm.

The Attorney’s responsibilities include meeting with clients to ascertain their legal needs, devising the appropriate legal strategy and having total ownership of execution of that strategy, representing clients’ interests at meetings, mediation, hearings, and in other court related events. We want someone that can exude empathy but can and will be assertive when the situation calls for it. We also want someone with exceptional communication skills, internally and externally. Specifically, you should be able to explain complex problems and situations in such a fashion that is relatable and relevant for the client, so the client has the entire picture, both from a substantive standpoint and from a pragmatic standpoint so that they can truly make informed decisions. Our attorney should also have exemplary customer service skills, respond to client’s inquiries in alignment with the firm’s policies, and be super organized and efficient with their time.

You should be a mid level attorney with at least 4 to 7 years of family law experience in the state of New Jersey. You should have substantial client contact and counseling, familiarity with basic business valuation principles, financial statements, and tax concepts.

Must have experience in managing their own caseload and utilizing staff for efficiency.

Attorney Responsibilities

  • Keeps cases on track with organized files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; researching case law; inputting information into file database and case management software; confirming case status with support staff and communicating regularly with clients; billing your time into the practice management software.
  • Executes case strategy with other experienced attorneys, paralegals, clients and support staff.
  • Manages cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case; preparing for depositions; reviewing standard court documents; drafting letters; writing and reviewing discovery; drafting memorandum; dictating responses to opposing counsel; generating status report; etc.
  • Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact and communicating case progress.
  • Maintains case costs by verifying outstanding balances with clients, and essential staff.
  • The candidate will make court appearances and mediation appearances on a regular basis; candidates must have significant experience drafting motions, arguing law and motion matters, and taking and defending depositions when required.
  • Supports case planning by preparing case summaries and materials for mediation conferences; preparing pleadings; monitoring discovery responses; organizing materials for team case review.
  • Is involved with trial proceedings working with support staff in organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready/prepared when needed.
  • Is involved in mediation processes and promotes alternative dispute resolution when applicable.
  • Attends business development and networking functions both with firm leadership and solo.
  • Meets 1500 billable hours per year.

Attorney Qualifications:

  • An ABA approved J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • 6 to 10+ years of experience in all aspects of the New Jersey Family Law field including divorce, child custody, child support, visitation, domestic violence, , dissolutions, and post-judgment modifications.
  • Licensed and admitted to practice in the State of New Jersey
  • Current good standing with the New Jersey Bar Association

Attorney Skills:

  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptionally advanced in technology and cloud-based systems
  • Perceptive and meticulous, with a thorough understanding of human behavior.
  • Capacity to regulate and perform under stress.
  • Proven experience in the Family Law field.
  • Proven experience working with forensic accountants and psychological experts;
  • Familiarity with case law and legislation within and related to the Family Law field.
  • Experience using firm software, project and case management programs (Office 365 Suite, Zoom, Easy Soft- software for child support guidelines and financial statements, ActionStep, Asana/Clickup, , Adobe, etc.)
  • Intermediate accounting skills.

Salary Range

  • $175,000 - $200,000 DOE + bonuses
